Over the course of the past 3 months, members of Teen SOYO have been giving their time to the Tarrant Area Food Bank helping to sort and pack boxes of donated food that will be distributed to community organizations across the entire region. Wednesdays are Family Night at TAFB, which allows us to take our group of varying ages and work together for a cause that greatly impacts our community. Combined, St. Peter's youth have helped to sort and pack over 17,600 pounds of food!
Over the Lenten season, Orthodox Parishioners throughout the DFW area have the beautiful opportunity to fellowship together during regular Sunday night Pan-Orthodox Vespers. Members of Teen SOYO made a point this year to attend as many of these vespers as possible by carpooling together.
On Great and Holy Saturday morning, members of Teen SOYO gathered together to stuff Easter eggs in anticipation of the annual post-Pascha Mass Easter egg hunt. Overall SOYO stuffed over 300 eggs that had been donated by the parish. They were also in charge of hiding the eggs all throughout the church property and Garth.
On Thursday April 18th members of Teen SOYO volunteered with Tarrant Area Food Bank for family night at the sortation center. We helped to box and sort through hundreds of pounds of donated food items , carefully checking expiration dates and weighing items to meet the food bank's standards. Each box was packed in order to bless a family and to help them bridge the gap out of poverty and hunger. Together, Teen SOYO helped the food bank provide 7,730 meals for North Texans.
